This is basically a repeat of the information that I included in my June 5 e-mail message on My Glass Ancestors. I have changed the format of the information and incorporated it into the body of this e-mail rather than an attachment. . Ancestors of Charles J. Glass Following is data on my line of the Glass family, going back to Jacob Glass. Jacob Glass was born on July 25, 1741. He died on January 18, 1821 in Loretto, PA . We do not know Jacobs place of birth or parents. (We have a copy of his will). Jacob Glass married Anna. (We have no other information on Anna.) Jacob and his family apparently moved from Huntington County, PA. to Loretto sometime between 1796 and 1800. George Glass, the son of Jacob Glass and Anna was born on April 01, 1770 in Huntingdon County, Pa. He died on November 09, 1847 in Loretto, Pa. (We have a copy of Georges will.) George married Susanna Dougherty. Susanna was born in 1781 in Huntingdon County, Pa. She died on May 10, 1863 in Ebensburg, Cambria County, PA. (We have considerable documentation on Susannah.) James M. Glass the son of George Glass and Susanna Dougherty was born in 1815 in PA and he died on March 17, 1863 in St Augustine, PA. James married Elizabeth Adams. Elizabeth was born in 1828 in St Augustine, PA and she died in 1915 in St. Augustine, PA. Edward Glass , the son of James Glass and Elizabeth Adams was born in 1857 in Ashville, PA and he died in 1937 in Niagara Falls, NY. Edward married Bridget Dolan. Bridget Dolan was born in 1860 in PA and died 1925 in Niagara Falls, NY. We have several family pictures of Edward and Bridget and their family. Thomas Gallitzen Glass was the son of Edward Glass and Bridget Dolan. Thomas was born on July 26, 1890 in Ashville, PA and he died on August 27, 1971 in Anaheim, CA. He married Pearl Loweny. Pearl was born on July 19, 1897 in Niagara Falls, NY and died on November 12, 1971 in Anaheim, CA. We have many family pictures of Thomas and Pearl and their family. Charles Joseph Glass is the son of Thomas Gallitzen Glass and Pearl Lowery . Charles was born on August 19, 1927 in Niagara Falls, New York. He married Agnes Rose McNulty. Agnes was born on August 06, 1930 in Bridgeport, Connecticut . ### The above is the skeleton of a much larger file of over 700 individuals who are included in my files of the Glass and allied families. I have been frustrated for some time because I have been unable to get information on my maternal grandfather William Lowery and his wife Anna Whitter. We plan to go to Niagara Falls, Ontario this summer, and to try to get information on the Lowerys from the Canadian Census. We know from family photographs that William Lowery had a younger brother "Bob", but we know nothing else about his immediate family. According to the US 1920 Census, William Lowery (Bill) immigrated to the US (at Niagara Falls, NY) in 1895 and became naturalized in 1912. According that census, William Lowerys father was born in Ontario and his mother was born in Ireland. His parents mother tongue was English. Regarding Anna Whittier, the wife of William Lowery, a Niagara Falls NY neewspaper, the Daily Cataract of April 5, 1897, reported that Bill Lowery married Anna Whittier on April 1 of that year. According to the 1910 Census, Anna was born In Ireland in December 1876 and immigrated to the US (at Boston, Mass) in 1893. "Annie" Lowery died in 1910 in Niagara Falls. She left a family of five daughters, the eldest of which was my Mother, Pearl. We would appreciate any information that is out there regarding the parents of my maternal grandfather and grandmother. Regarding the Glass line - we have been able to trace my Glass ancestors back to Jacob Glass based on records at St. Michaels Church in Loretto, PA, U.S. Census Records, and a published history of Pennsylvania Counties and a copy of Jacobs will which we found in the Ebensburg PA. Courthouse. According to the church records, the families of Jacob Glass and his sons were active members of Father Gallitzen's congregation at St. Michaels Church in Loretto PA. According to the Church records, one of Jacob's sons, William, was active in raising funds for rebuilding the original Church in Gallitzen's parish of St. Michael's and was said to represent the English in the congregation. We have spent quite a bit of time researching my Glass ancestors in the area of Ebensburgh, Patten, and St. Augustine PA. However we have been unable to pin down where Jacob was born, or information about his parents. Also, we know virtually nothing about his wife Anna, except that she bore him twelve (12) children. In the History of Huntingdon and Blaire Counties by Africa (found in the Philadelphia Library) on page 343, Jacob Glass is listed in 1796 as Supervisor of Shirly Township which was located in the southwest part of Huntingdon County. Also, the 1790 census lists Jacob Glass as head of a household of 15 including 3 males aged 16 and older, 4 males under 16, and 8 females including the head of the household. This family composition corresponds to the members of Jacobs family as listed in his will. Im not sure if you Glass trackers in the US are interested in this Glass line, nevertheless, in my next e-mail, I will send a more complete listing of the Glass and allied families. It will be about 7 pages. Chuck Glass Kensington, MD
