Hi list memnbers, I hope my messages to the list are proving of some worth to someone. Here is another batch of old messages that I have that you may not know about. Message 1 I have a little New Brunswick, Canada info for you and the other members of the clan: James Glass (son of John and Mary Ellen) was born in St. Andrews, NB in 1830 (no day and month known). He died in Calais, ME in 1907. He married Mary Canavan and they had four children. (Mary is buried in Calais; but there is no record of burial for James.) The family lived for a time in St. Stephen but seemed to go back and forth (???) between there and Calais. There are many Glass births listed in the genealogy section of the St. Stephen library. I didn't copy them down when we were there because they were AFTER my great grandfather had gone to Wisconsin. Mistake on my part, I now admit. There is a John Glass buried in the old United Empire Loyalist Cemetery in St. Stephen. Death date is 29 Dec. 1853. MAY be my great great grandfather but I cannot yet confirm. Stone also says "native of Londonderry" -- which fits, too, but no confirmation. Jane Baier at MJBAIER@aol.com Message 2 Here is a list of the burials from Megantic County. Megantic County is on the south of the St. Lawrence River in the Province of Quebec, Canada, fifty miles south of Quebec City. Thetford Mines is the only city in the county, with the rest being small villages, originally settled by Irish, Scottish and Empire Loyalists. The population is now 90% french speaking. 1866/27/08 Margaret 68 years old, widow of Samuel. 1895/20/09 Martha 62 years old, wife of Edward. 1877/15/06 Samuel 64 years old. 1895/30/10 Susan 72 years old, widow of John McCanstland. 1882/20/02 Elizabeth 73 years old. 1879/15/02 Ellen (no age given) Says "Native of St-Ferdinand-d'Halfax" 1831/01/06 John 24 years old, "Native of Clogher,Tyrone County Ireland" I don't know if that will help, that's all the burials listed in the book. Cheers Patti at pmcvetty@iaw.com Message 3 I am searching for ancestors of Alexander Glas Strachan, son of Elizabeth Glas (daughter of Alexander Glas) and Joseph Strachan. Alexander Glas Strachan came to American circa 1773 from Edinburgh, Scotland. As far as I can determine, his parents did not leave Scotland.
