Hi list members and my appologies to Shakespeare. Regarding whether The Holiday Virus is a hoax or not. It may be but I am not prepared to play around with it to see if it is or not. Can we be sure that those saying it is a hoax have proved that it is? I treat everything that I suspect as being a Virus or containing a Virus as just that until it is proven not to be. Once your hard drive has been corrupted it is a little bit late to worry about it. I have suffered the effects of a Virus and I know what it is like to have to re-format your drive and lose everything not backed up. STOP RIGHT NOW and ask yourself if you are prepared to lose all of your data on your hard drive. We all have good intentions of backing up our data but few do it. My advice to you all is regularly back up data that you can't afford to lose and treat anything that you suspect as being a Virus as though it is until it is proven, by someone else, not to be. You are your own master and if you lose data to a Virus you can blame no one else but yourself if you haven't done a recent back-up. Another thing to consider is that in relation to Hard Drives, there is a saying among the computer fraternity that it is not a question of IF your hard drive fails but WHEN. It is a mechanical device which wears out and will fail given enough time. Once again you may lose everything on it. I have had two hard drives fail over the past 15 years, and again it is not a pleasant happening. There are three things to remember when considering hard drive data..... Back-up, Back-up, Back-up.
