    3. Regarding Dudly Glass marriages in Halifax Co VA, there are definitely more than one Dudley Glass. It becomes apparent once other documents, including deeds and census are added to the picture. The first Dudley Glass marriage was to a Nancy Carr, the daughter of Thomas and Sally Carr, on 2 Apr 1803. Then Thomas Carr died in 1808 and Sally remarried a Dudley Glass on 22 July 1811. There are documents to prove that Nancy and Dudley are still married after 1811(the date of Sally and Dudleys marriae) which proves that the same Dudley did not marry both women. There are also documents to show that Sally was a Carr before she married Dudley Glass and that she was a Phelps before she married Thomas Carr. The one document that helps to put all these things in perspective is Halifax Co VA Deed Book 28 page 522 on 4 March 1820: (abstracted) Dudley Glass Snr, and Sally Carr his wife and William P Carr and Thomas S Carr for regard and affection that Dudley Glass and Sally have for William P and Thomas S Carrand the consideration of the sum of 5 lbs in hand paid to Dudley Glass and Sally by William P and Thomas S before delivering of these presents the receipt acknowledged a tract of land in Halifax County on the branch of Terrible Creek, containing est. 400a The land is bounded by land of Gabriel __?__ and Richard Johnson* Armistead Barksdale and others. They (Glass and wife) reserve right to use land during their lifetime. This land was Willed to Sally by her late father John Phelps. [*Richard Johnson m Frances Philps 21 Dec 1784] Also, these Carr's included in this deed are Sally and Thomas Carr's children, before Sally married Dudley.
