I am new to this forum but was startled to see the name Dudley Glass arise. Three weeks ago, in Scott County, KY, I spoke with Dudley Glass at his ancestral home on Long Lick Road outside of Georgetown/Stamping Ground. Dudley is descended from William Glass, son of Jehu Glass or VA (married to Elizabeth Christy abt. 1774). Jehu Glass was allegedly a sea captain who owned land in Richmond Co. VA. Jehu's wife was Elizabeth (Dozier) Belfield Wilson, twice a widow. They were married prior to 1752. At some point, Jehu sailed away and never returned. I refer you to "William Glass of Scott and Owen Counties, Kentucky", by Zelma McCord McMurtry, privately published in 1975. A copy of this may be found at the Filson Club in Louisville and by now, it may be available on film theough the LDS folks. Dudley is not your everyday name and to have it crop up in KY startled me. I am inclined to write him and see what he can tell me. In the meantime, as my attention is now turning to my Glass ancestors, I will be interested in what you all have to say. By the way, Mrs. McMurtry outlines two other Glass families living in Scott and Owen Counties and there is no known relationship to the descendants of William. I also have a copy of the book and can look up names for those interested.
