    2. James Sims
    3. Another Glass researcher sent me the following transcribed Will, said to the that of Dudley GLASS, Sr. of Halifax Co., VA. I don't have a reference for which county record this is recorded in or the date probated. I have been looking for the parents of my ancestor Benjamin GLASS b. ca. 1782 in VA, married to Susannah FRANKLIN in 1810 in Henry Co., VA (the county just west of Halifax) and for my ancestor Winny GLASS b. VA 1782 parents. Winny and James ARNOLD, Jr. were married in Halifax Co., VA in 1805. >From the following will, it does not appear that Dudley GLASS, Sr. was a parent for either of my GLASSes: I, Dudley Glass Senior of Halifax County do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to Say Firstly my desire is that all my just debts may be paid. Second my desire is that my wife Sally may hold the slaves she brought with her to my house also the land she moved from also. I lend her one bed and furniture also one large cubboard she brought with her to my house also six chairs she brought with her also her own spinning wheel and chest she brought with her, further I lend to her one gray mare and side saddle and one flax wheel during her life. Thirdly I lend to Anne Sparks one negro girl married during her life and at her death to return into my own family and divided among my children and their descendents with her increase also one feather bed and furniture also I lend unto her one saddle and bridle that she claims and one spinning wheel and cards and one chart and any other trifle that she may claim and twenty five dollars in cash, but if she shall leave and heirs begotten of her body at her death the above articles to go to her heirs except the negro girl to my own children. Fourthly it is my desire that my children shall hold and enjoy all the I have given whether it be land or negros (?word) one negro girl Mary that I have lent to my daughter Molly Farmer that is to be returned and equally divided amongst the rest of my negros and the balance of my estate that I now hold or my hold at my death to be divided in manner and from following. To my son John Glass one sixth part, to my son Dudley one sixth part, to my daughter Ragland one sixth part, to my daughter Molly Farmer one sixth part during her lifetime and at her death to the heirs of her body, to my son George's four children one sixth part that is to say carried over, John S. Glass, Patsy Walne formerly Pasty Glass, Frankey Walne formerly Frankey Glass and Dudley Glass into a division with the rest of his brothers and sisters but as (?) cannot be divided amongst my son George's children and my daughter Irbery children without a sale my desire is that my four surviving children may have all my negros to be divided amongst the four to be by lot, being first valued and (?) of my son George's children, my daughter Judith children at the appraised value out of the (?) of my estate my land or lands to be sold for a division only first reserving a burying place and lastly I appoint my (?) William B Banks my executor of this my last will and testament all other wills or testaments heretofore by me made as witness (?) and seal this seventeenth of November one thousand eight hundred and twenty four acknowledged in presence of (?) his last will and testament of the Sr Dudley Glass.
