Hi. I am looking for any information on Hiram Glass. He was born in 1734 in Ireland. He moved to America before the Revolutionary War. He may have fought in it. Is there a web site that has the war roster? Hiram more than likely lived in Virginia. He had a son named Dudley. He married a Jane Givens. Dudley owned a plantation in Virginia. I would really like any info you have about how Hiram got to America, when he died, who he married, or anything else. Also if you could tell me where I might be able to find the infomation (what books, email addresses, etc.). Ben:)
A recent post by Christopher Glass to this list prompts this posting of some GLASSes who were in the North Texas area for many years and appear to have left Texas sometime after 1910. Eliza Jane Born 1817 died 26.4.1899 married Alexander Glass (above) William Born 1824 died 1887 married 1860 to Sarah Kyle John Born 1828 died 1896 Letitia Margaret Isabella Dear Bruce, I'm still trying to catch up and not doing a very good job of it. It's taken us many more trips to Louisiana than we anticipated to settle my brother-in-laws affairs, so we are gone about half the time. Meanwhle, our old air conditioners have failed on us again, meaning I can only spend limited time running the computer in this heat..Excuses, excuses, I know, but all too true. Still, I steal into this room and zip through my mail. Found the above from you and just had to ask if you have anay locale for this Irish Glass line? Names and dates are pretty consistent with what I'm researching, and I'd really love to have anymore info on the Ireland part of the family. Hope you are doing well. It looks like your mailing digest has taken off like a rocket !! Never dreamed there were so many out there searching, searching. I have to sign off now, but please accept my apologies and understand what's been my holdup. Thanks very much, Mary
Interested in a HENRY GLASS, born 31 Jan 1809, in Watertown, St. Lawrence Co., New York. He married ELIZA BURROWS, born 27 July 1811, and they had fourteen children. Any more information would be appricated. Darrell
Does anyone know how to track down details of Roman Catholic Births/Baptisms and Marriages? I have the following details which I wish to confirm. The record taken from parish registers St Andrews, Roman Catholic, Crathie/Braemar, Aberdeenshire reads as follows ..... January 7th 1705, James Glass, Little Invery, a son, James. Godfather; James Farquharson, md, Dikkel, Inverey. Godmother; Elizabeth Mc Andrew, md, Achabador. In the IGI is a marriage in Strathdon, Aberdeenshire, which reads as follows ..... James Jean Moore R.C. W/M 11-11-1676 Strathdon The timing of this marriage and the possible birth of James Glass (father above) is a bit to close to be a coincidence. How can I check this out as apparently the Strathdon parish registers do not have Catholic entries (according to another researcher who has searched the particular film). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bruce Glass, New Zealand.
My family has done alot reserch on the family names and I am cont search for more information on the Glass name specifically. Grand mother was Melvina Glass-Lane b feb 21 1890 Bentinevill Ark.. Married a Thomas Uriah Gilley(born choctaw nation ) b sept 26 Henderson Tx 1886. Her mother was Menure Isabel Glass daughter to Chief Glass-indian name Adetaki? This is a reposting of my information in hope that someone new to the newsletter will have info. Looking for parents of Minnie A. GLASS. All I know is the information on my grandmother's birth certificate. (her daughter) At the time of my grandmother's birth Minnie was 21 years old. This certificate indicates she was born in Ireland. My grandmother was born in Niagara Falls, NY but I don't believe that is where they lived. The family story is that they were traveling between Rochester, NY and Parry Sound, Ontario Canada when the baby was born. I know that my great grandfather's family and 2 previous wives were from Canada. I have been unable to find a marriage record for them in US or Canada so far. Minnie's husband's name was Enoch George ADAMS (aka George Enoch Adams) Their daughter (my grandmother) was named Minera M. ADAMS and was born 26 February 1894. Thanks for any help provided. Joyce

Hi List members, especially those of you who have roots originating in Virginia. I have just found this wee note in my records ..... John Glass, Jacobite prisoner, transported probably to Virginia on "Scipio" ex Liverpool 30 Mar 1716. This would have been immediately after the 1715 uprising. Jacobite is given to those who sympathise with the Stewart/Stuart cause. Regards Bruce, List Owner, New Zealand.
