Is the name Samuel Mitchell from a census record, perhaps from the marriage register - you have given an exact date for marriage. Do the record sources you have provide other information, e.g. marriage certif would name his father and provide occupations. Do you believe this couple emigrated from the UK? Any idea when? This information can be used to eliminate Samuels and Louisas from other sources and perhaps help provide you the info you seek. A Samuel Mitchell was baptised Newlyn East 1 Jul 1855 (and found in 1861 and 1871 censuses) - but without further info, cannot be certain if it was the same person you describe.
