    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Glanville, Burden, Brewer Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.co.uk/mbexec/msg/5538/nBZ.2ACEB/74 Message Board Post: I am trying to work out if there is any connection between the Glanville, Burden and Brewer families. What I think I have so far is: 1841 census John and Mary Burden + children living in Dorset - some children have been born in Sussex/Hants, so they have obviously lived elsewhere Ann Glanvill - an independant widow with children including Theresa, Adolphus and Angelina, living in Portsmouth. I believe her late husband was John Karritt Glanville (d1838). she also has a son named James CORNELIUS Glanville - Cornelius is an often-repeated Burden name. 1851 census John and Mary Burden have moved to Portsmouth in a street next to Ann's 1841 address and have acquired three extra children - not new births since 1841 but older children. Their names are Theresa, Adolphus and Angelina and there ages tie up with Ann's children of 1841. They are listed as sons/daughters and have the surname Burden. Theresa is married to Robert Anderson so I tried looking for the marriage - Robert Anderson married Thirza Maria Glanville. I think Ann remarried in 1850, but it is one of those listings where there is just one name on the page, so I haven't got her husband's surname. I am working on finding these children in later census returns and it appears that they have reverted to the surname Glanville. Adolphus Burden was a painter in 1851 - so was Adolphus Glanville in 1881. Angelina married George Mussell and moved to Brighton. All these coincidences make me think that there must be some sort of relationship between the two families - maybe Ann G was John Burden's sister? Anyone any ideas? Catherine
