I could not find Annie in Ancestry's index of the 1901 census unless she was recorded as born elsewhere: Annie Glanville born about 1895 at Birmingham, adopted daughter of John and Annie HERBY, living in Birmingham. Ann Glanville born about 1895 at Quebec, Durham, daughter of James and Annetta GLANVILLE living at Esh, Durham. Your Annie's birth certificate should give her parents. Folks, this is a reminder that any post to a list that starts with the phrase "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." has been "gatewayed" from the surname Board to the surname List. Simply, this means that the original post was sent, in this case, to the GLANVILLE Board and, because the "gateway" between the Board and List has been opened, was also automatically re-sent to the GLANVILLE List. BUT, this means that unless the the original Board poster is also a member of the List, any replies to a gatewayed post sent to the List will NOT be seen by the Board poster. If you wish to reply to a gatewayed post in such a way that your reply will be seen by the Board poster, you must do so by clicking on the "Message Board URL:" link. Of course, it would also be appreciated if you copied your reply to the List as well. Thanks. Peter GLANVILLE List Admin. Folks, to celebrate National Library Week in the U.S., Thomson Gale is offering FREE ACCESS to 30 databases during the period 10 to 16 April, inclusive. Thomson Gale's home page is at: http://www.gale.com/ and details on the 30 databases are at: http://www.gale.com/nlw/ Although several of their databases will be of interest, perhaps the most useful one is: The Times Digital Archive, 1785-1985--which contains every page as published from 200 years of The Times of London. The Times is the "world's newspaper of record" and covers all major international historical events from the French Revolution to the Falklands War. For the first time, users will be able to search the full-text of the entire newspaper, including articles, editorials, birth, death and marriage notices and advertising. If you have relatives who lived in London at some point in time, this database could hold some surprises. Even doing a simple surname search may yield new information about your family. Mark you calendars for log in on April 10th: For more information about The Times Digital Archive: http://www.galegroup.com/Times/ Important Technical Requirements: Here's what you'll need to use these databases: 1. A computer with Internet access 2. A Web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape 3. The browser must be configured to accept cookies 4. A monitor configured to have at least 800X600 screen resolution 5. Java script must be enabled in the browser ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE TIMES OF LONDON: "Introducing The Times Digital Archive, the first of several online digitized newspapers from Gale's highly anticipated Historical Newspapers Archive initiative. With The Times Digital Archive, researchers now have an unparalleled opportunity to search and view the best-known and most cited newspaper in the world online in its original published context. Every complete page of every issue of The Times (London) from 1785 to 1985. Every headline, article and image. Every front page, editorial, birth and death notice, advertisement and classified ad that appeared within the pages of The Times (London) will be easily accessible from what promises to be a complete virtual chronicle of history for this period." ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please feel free to post any of the "finds" you make from this Thomson Gale week of free access to the list! Good hunting! Peter List Admin.

William Glanville m. Sophia Kellam nee Gomez daughter Amelia Valentine birth registered q1 1849 Bristol, England
This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Glanville, Gomez, Kellam Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/nBZ.2ACEB/72 Message Board Post: William Glanville in the British Army at Gibraltar in 1841 dodged the census, met Sophia Kellam (nee Gomez) a widow, there and married her in Daventry, County of Northampton England on 6 Nov 1844. Their daughter Margaret was born 26th Jan 1847 in the Parish of Charleville, County of Cork. Daughter Amelia Valentine was born 14 Feb 1849 location??. The family in 1851 together with Sophia's daughters, Maria Antonia and Ann Kellam sailed for Western Australia on the convict ship Pyrenees where he was an enrolled pensioner guard thus dodging the 1851 census too. Shortly after their arrival Sophia died in childbirth and William could not manage. He lost his prison warder job (alcohol) and word of mouth has him leaving the family and returning to the UK via South Africa to rejoin Army and serve in the Crimea and from there to the West Indies (Jamaica?) dodging the 1861 census (that is three in a row dodged). It is believed he was from near Saltash in UK and his father was John! Glanville, a seaman. Does anyone else connect to to this dodger, my wife's g.g.grandfather?
