Author: jembennett Surnames: Glanville, Bawden Classification: census Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.glanville/74.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: G'Day Catherine, Not Burden but Bawden. Look at free 1881 census via Rootsweb to see Jacob Glanville married to Honor (nee Bawden) one child has mothers maiden name. RG11 Piece 2282, Folio 124, Page 26. Previous census trails take both of them back to 1841 and forward to 1901. Any chance Bawden is the same as Burden? I have a lot of info on that particular Glanville family line. He came to Oz in 1851, his wife died and he disappeared in 1853. Maybe went to Ireland and re-married. You do not perchance know Rossetta's fathers name? Cheers, John Bennett in Western Oz. We believe he married in 1917 and died in 1969 aged 90 in Cranston, RI. He was my great great uncle but lost touch with my grandparents in the 1930s. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: catherinetutor Surnames: Glanville Burden Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.glanville/74.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I did eventually sort this lot out and found the connection: 1841 - John Burden is married to Mary Ann Brewer she dies in the late 1840s 1850 - John Burden marries the widowed Ann Glanville, nee Norkett (John B and John Glanville are both listed as carpenters on the census, so perhaps they worked together?) 1851 - The Glanville children are listed with the Burden surname in the census. The use of the name Cornelius looks like a red herring as there is no connection between the Glanville use of it and the Burden use of it, but John Burden's son (Cornelius) did call one of his sons Adolphus, so perhaps that showed some level of affection/respect for his step-brother? I haven't got any great amount of info on the Glanvilles other than trying to sort out who was who. The message above gives a website which might give you more info, or try www.glanvillenet.info if you haven't been there already. 1. [GLANVILLE] Glanville - Cornwall, England
    2. Leslie Thomas
    3. My brickwall is Liza (assume it is Elizabeth) Glanville born about 1862 in Camborne - Cornwall - England and married John Thomas. Another researcher thought perhaps this couple married in November of 1883 in Reduth. They had the following children: 1. Mary Hannah "Annie" Thomas b. May 21, 1892 died Oct. 24, 1951 also in Camborne. She married William Dunstan. 2. Arthur Thomas b. about 1885 and died about 1945 3. Francis John Thomas b. March 1890 and died same year. 4. Lottie May Thomas b. Dec. 29, 1897 and died April 26, 1962 Camborne. She married Percy Thomas. Does anyone know who Liza Glanville's parents were? Leslie Thomas

Camborne has a wonderful web site with a lot of church records going back into the early 1600's. Interesting that a Glanville wound up in Kirkwood, MO where I used to live and not very far from my Glanvilles. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Her parents were William Pant and Elizabeth Smith, married 1840 (from BMD). However, William may have been married previously to Susanna ??? Siblings for Mary Ann were Sarah (1847), George, Jessie, Charlotte (1855), William, and Emily. William and Elizabeth came to Canada in 1856. Please let me know if any of this connects with what you have. Doreen

Oliver was b ca 1590 and died ca 1642, as his widow is named in a Chancery case that year. (Claims were made against his estate and she was executrix.) I'm now interested to know which other Oliver married Petronell? He seems to have been born in Camborne, Cornwall (which is 60-odd miles west of Launceston), and they appear to have had children 1608-1627. Oliver and Elizabeth of Launceston had three children, John (died in infancy), Mary and Francis 1620-23. It would be very interesting to find out who Oliver's and Petronell's parents were.
