Greetings folks! It is with a sad heart that I report the death of my grandmother, Jewel Virginia Glanton Hardy Selph. I just returned from her funeral in Florida last night. You will find her obit from the Orlando Sentinel below. I am happy to report that her death has lead to two positive events: We announce Wednesday that there will be a Glanton family reunion next year. The first one will be in Florida. We would like to have a reunion every two or three years in a different places, like Edgefield County, South Carolina, or Limestone County, Alabama. The second announcement is that we (myself and some of my cousins) are going to start building a web page about the Glanton family. Please start thinking about what you would like to put on the web page. All that I ask is that you include your sources. If the information that you have is passed down through your family, then please state it as such. Im going to be working on a biography of my grandmother, and on a list of Civil War soldiers with the last name of Glanton. Who am I? Im a professional writer and researcher that lives in the mountains of western North Carolina. Im the grandson of Jewel, the great- grandson of Claude, the great great-grandson of William H., the great great great-grandson of Dempsey, and the great great great great- grandson of Jonathan Glanton. I have many cousins in South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, Florida, and many other places that I would love to hear from, so please drop me a line. Regards, Michael C.
