    3. Can anybody out there tell me all about Samuel Hill Glanton JR of Louisiana? His brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and children and children's children. Or just a little tiny bit. All the bits add up. I am trying to unravel the Louisiana Glantons and info is scarce. They don't show up on census records until long after I know they were there. (Circa 1832) What I think I know already : Samuel Hill Glanton SR was born circa 1828 to John George Glanton and Harriett Hill in Edgefield County, South Carolina. He had five siblings : Sarah Ann, born 1824; Luke S., born 1826; Thomas Lewis, born 1830; Mary P., born 1833 and John E., born 1835. John George Glanton died in an accident in 1837 when Samuel was nine only years old, the youngest son was only two. Elizabeth Sterling Glanton remarried - to a Martin Abney, who helped her raise the Glanton children. Sarah Ann married a Thomas Davidson in Troup County, GA. She later married an Isaac Windsor and died in Vienna, Louisiana. Samuel Hill Glanton married Elizabeth Sterling when she was approximately 16 years old in Jun of 1850 in Troup County, GA. Brother Luke S. also married a sixteen year old, Sarah Jane Sledge. Luke left the state and went north and died there. Sarah returned to Georgia to raise her children. Thomas Lewis Glanton married a Lucinda Kirk. Cordelia A. Glanton was born to Samuel Hill Glanton and Elizabeth Sterling in 1853 in Troup County. Sometime between 1853 and 1858 the family moved to Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. It is possible that the Abneys were already there - or other relatives. Note that sister Sarah also moved to Louisiana - in the same area. There, in 1858, William J. Glanton was born to Samuel and Elizabeth. In 1862 Samuel H. Glanton JR was born to Sam SR and Elizabeth. According to LDS records, Samuel Hill Glanton's will is dated that same year. I have no other info on this LA family. What became of Samuel Hill Glanton, JR? What became of William J. Glanton? What of Cordelia? According to LDS records, an unknown Glanton married a Lizzie Sherwood Hagerman in Webster Parish circa 1855. Webster is next to Claiborne Parish. I have no records of what happened to John E. Glanton - and can't help but wonder if he was the unknown Glanton. He would have been 20 in 1855. Well? Can anybody out there help figure out what the Sam Hill happened in Louisiana?
