    1. [GLA] Re Martin Hooley

    3. Thankyou to all the people on this list who sent replies re Martin Hooley. There are so many spellings of the name Hooley, I am sure if I tried them all, I would find family I never new I had?? Firstly, the Martin Hooley b.1821 Cheshire is too young to be the father of Thomas..I had alsofound a Martin Hooley b. 1811 Ireland also in Cheshire but Catherine Linnard Hooley was born 1895 in Ireland and had her first daughter b.1820 so he was a bit young for this I think... The Thomas Hooley b.1821 in Aberystruth in Mons is interesting... my father, Thomas Hooley (3) b. 1894 Cardiff Wales, married Mum Mary in Tralee Ireland in 1919 and moved to Abertillery Mons Wales where my eldest brother Thomas (4) was born. They came out to Australia in 1922.... could be related. More searching here.. I also found grt grandad Thomas (1) was living in Croft Street Swansea before he married (shown on his marriage certificate) and the Linnards were living there in later years. Surprisingly, why did I write Martin Hooley at Croft Street, Swansea, about 20 years before I found Thomas lived at Croft Street? Oh well, looks like the variations are going to get a good checkover....wish me luck! I will probably check out the Swansea Archives or the Swansea Library and see if they have him living at Croft Street back in 1841. Thanks again listers....great people with kind hearts. Kind regards, Mary
