Hi all Hoping there is someone with local knowledge who can tell me where "the Hill" is in Neath. I am trying to find it on a map and not having any luck. Does it still exist? I want to get a perspective of where various family members were. Regards Lyn In Oz.
Hi, Could it be Bryn (Hill in English)? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryn,_Neath_Port_Talbot Just a stab in the dark, as I don't live there. Lyn, Can you tell us where you found the name of the street? If it was from a census it should be possible to browse the neighbouring streets to try and tie it down. There is a Hillside in Neath; Hill Road in Neath Abbey; a Hill View in Jersey Marine; and a Hill Street in Melincourt / Briton Ferry. I can find no modern street named 'The Hill'. Good morning Lyn, Limiting "Neath" to the pre-1970's Neath Borough I can think of only one area (as opposed to street/road etc) with "Hill" in the name and that is Hillside Look for "Hillside" in Google maps. Hillside is (roughly) the area bounded by Dan y graig Road to the West, Hillside (the road) to the North, Cook Rees Avenue/Kingdon Owen Road to the East and Groves Road to the South. You'll see the park is called "Mount Pleasant" . Roughly speaking, it's about 200 feet above sea-level which though not stratospheric, takes a fair amount of deep breathing. Hope this helps Charles [email protected] NEATH -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Lyn Sent: 17 August 2013 03:28 To: [email protected] Subject: [GLA] The Hill Neath Hi all Hoping there is someone with local knowledge who can tell me where "the Hill" is in Neath.
