As they appear to have lived in Aberdare, in the registration district of Merthyr Tydfil, I assume you have checked out the entry in December quarter 1846 in Merthyr Tydfil Registration District 26 680 Eleanor Jones and David Evans both appear. Clearly it is possible that they did not marry each other as there are a number of other names on the same index page. It could perhaps be that the date of their wedding anniversary was correctly recalled, but the actual year was one out. I suspect that, if this entry is relevant, the marriage was not in a parish church, but possibly in a register office or in one of the limited number on nonconformist chapels registered for marriages at that time.
