Thank you for all your input - it has been a great help. When I looked at the 1901 census - the actual document - I believe the age is 8 and the line beside it is actually a check mark of some kind. So I believe that is the John Solomon Rood - same one as in the 1911 census. Now, back to the missing child of Samson Meaker Rood and Susan Rood (nee Sweet). They were married in 1889 and had 4 children living per the 1911 census. But as it is shows that 5 children were born alive and 1 died and the previous census records do not have a column for children born alive, died etc. I assume that sometime between 1889 when they married and 1911 there is still a missing child. I did find a William John Rood born Apr-Jun 1894 - the death record shows that he died in Apr-Jun 1894 0 years of age. But I don't know how to find who his parents are. Is there a way to find out that on the Internet? Parish records??? The family not showing in 1891 makes it hard and my dogs interrupted my search <G> there well maybe a child that you know nothing of. And Jean is so right Susan would have been awfully young <G> but it isn't unheard of <G> Eliz Not Today and Not without a Fight (Anon)
