Hello Mary I have looked on Ancestry = Eleanor's birthplace has been transcribed as Coal Brook Vale, Devon - the word Devon on the original appears to have been added in a different hand however. The transcription for Mary Ann's birthplace is Abervale, Monmouthshire - the only word that is clear in all that (to my eyes) is Abervale. As for Eleanor, the location in the way it is written is at odds with everything else on the page - firstly, when a person is from Ireland, the country name is all that appears. When the location is Wales or England it is written county first, followed by the town ie "Glamorgan, Cardiff". That being said, I cannot decipher what is written in for Eleanor but that may simply be a case of my unfamiliarity with the area. Sorry, wish I could have been more help. I am willing to email the page to anyone who might have a better interpretation. Hello Helen, Coalbrook Vale was in Monmouthshire, a suburb of Nantyglo. This would tie in with the birthplace of the other sister as being Abervale, also in Monmouthshire. regards Mike Willing to have a look at original scan.
