Hello list I am looking for help with my Great Grandmother Jane RICHARDS born about 1869, in Merthyr Tydfil. I would like to find her in the 1871 census, and have had no success, as she wasn't with the rest of the family then. I wonder if she was sent to stay with a relative as at the time of the 1871 census her brother Edward was only 6 weeks old, and Howell's mother was staying with the family. I have the family in 1881 at Canal Row, 1891 and 1901 at Nightingale St and 1911 at Catherine Sq. Her parents were Howell RICHARDS 1842 and Ann REES 1843 ( another line of enquiry I need to pursue with the family is to follow up Ann and find out if she is related to David REES 1858 who she married!) Her siblings were Edward and William, with a half sister Anne from Howell's first marriage. I am unable to locate a birth for her but hoping that the 1871 census might narrow down the possibilities a little. Any help would be appreciated Thanks, Chris (Australia)
