    3. To Dai and Ann, Thank you so much for this information AND for the copies of the two different census records. Now my question is about the names Annie and Hannah. I did find the baptismal record of Flory with parents Alfred Evan and Annie Ford. I figured these must have been two different women, therefore two different marriages with different men with the same name. Are these names interchangeable so that even on a baptismal record, Annie would be written for Hannah? And would Flory have been the name for Florence, even on a baptismal record? That would seem to be more of an official name there although the census record has a more formal version of the names. As far as a record of their marriage, what would the options have been in 1887? Both of these people were living in or close to Penarth. His family had quite a lot of connection with mariner-related activities. And if a child was baptized in the local church, it seems like they would have chosen the local church to be married in. Thanks again for all the help from both of you. In the 1881 Census he is listed as being the head of household in an index I found. But no spouse is listed. There is a marriage for him on freebmd in the March Quarter of 1881, Cardiff District, Vol 11a, page 307. On the same page is a listing for Hannah SADLER. I have found a Hannah SADLER in the 1871 Census showing her as age 10. A baptismal record for Hannah SADLER in Penarth Parish shows a date of 18 September 1861. That would make her eight years younger than Alfred Evan--not an impossible difference in ages. Does anyone have access to the Penarth Parish records in 1881 to see if there is a marriage record for Alfred Evan FORD, whose parents are William Dallen and Ann FORD, with Hannah SADLER or anyone else? I would really appreciate the help, if it's available. Thank you. 3. JoLynn, I have a number of examples where familiar and formal forms of names were interchanged, so I would be quite confident that Flory and Florence were one and the same, and Hannah and Annie are also regularly interchanged.
