** ** Dear all**** ** ** I am in possession of an old Welsh Bible, which was left a few decades ago in a commercial premises in Port Talbot. It commemorates the birth of various members of the Meyrick family - of Daniel (b. 1844) and his wife Margaret (b.1849), and their numerous children born between 1868 and 1887. I see in the 1881 census that they were living in Saron Cottages, Margam, and that all members of the family were born in that parish. If any descendants of the Meyrick family would like to claim the Bible – or if anyone else knows where it would find a good home, please contact me.**** ** ** Gethin**** ****
Dear Gethin My wife Lettice is related to these Meyricks, though not descended directly. We are fairly sure that your Daniel 1844 had an uncle Howell Meyrick (born about 1815 Merthyr) who had sons including Edward Daniel Meyrick and Benjamin Meyrick. Each of these two sons married a great-aunt of Lettice, one on her father's side and the other on her mother's side. But we have not explored the Meyrick family very thoroughly. So while we have no claim on the Bible, we should be interested to know of any information in it about Meyricks other than Daniel and Margaret and their children.
