I'm revisiting this website after an absence of four years. I've seen people mention they've gotten help from here; so I'm joining in. I've recently been trying to find a birth or baptismal date for the oldest sister of my gg-grandfather, EVAN JENKINS (baptized 22 July 1817 in Cowbridge). The sister's name is ANNE (or ANN) JENKINS. I think she was born about 1813 in Cowbridge, Glamorganshire, Wales. Her father was JOHN JENKINS and her mother was ELIZABETH (THOMAS) JENKINS. They were married on 20 July 1811 in Cowbridge. I have a marriage for her in Cardiff BPW (I don't know what BPW means; it was listed on the Glamorgan Index of marriages) to a widower named WILLIAM DALLEN FORD (Dalling, Dallin are also variations). The date is 1 October 1837. Mr. FORD was also married to REBECCA CATTLE OR COTTLE on 26 July 1829 in Cardiff. The index listing has ANNE'S (the bride's) parish as Cardiff as well as for the groom. Maybe she moved there to work. I have a death date for ANNE of 11 December 1869 and a burial of 16 December 1869 in St. John Cemetery, Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales. I've seen different listings for the parish there--one being St. John's Parish (along with St. Mary's Parish) and one for St. John the Baptist Parish. How much difference does that make in the parish registers? I have looked through the microfilmed copies of bishops' transcripts for Cowbridge beginning 1811 and forward to find the children of JOHN and ELIZABETH JENKINS and have only found four of the six children that family records say belonged to that family. I am missing ANNE at the beginning and CHARLOTTE, the last child. CHARLOTTE supposedly was born about 1822 in Cowbridge; and her mother, ELIZABETH JENKINS, died 27 December 1822 and was buried 30 December 1822, according to family records. So perhaps CHARLOTTE died in childbirth or soon thereafter along with her mother. I don't know. Can any of you reading this email help me find proof of the beginning of existence for either ANNE or CHARLOTTE JENKINS? Thanks for your help. JoLynn Barneck [email protected]
