    3. A colleague found the obituary of my great great grandmother in the 22 December 1904 of Tarian y Gweithwyr. She was Elleanor Jones Evans and she had died 26 November 1904 in Williamsburg Iowa, USA. She was born in Halfway House near Talley, Carmarthenshire in 1822. She joined the Baptist Chapel in Cwmifor near Llandeilo at the age of 18. On November 12, 1845 she was married to David R Evans . They are found in Treaman, Aberdare in 1851 where he is a lime burner. In 1861 they are at 56 Cardiff Road in Aberdare and he is a haulier with four living children plus a "boarder" by the name of Ann Jones age 72 from Talley who proves to be the mother of Elleanor. David was a deacon of the Gwawr Baptist Chapel in Aberman. He was putatively born 25 Mar 1818 in Salem near Llandeilo, the son of Daniel and one of ten children. In 1869, they emigrated to Iowa. The obituary was invaluable to learning Elleanor's parentage, John and Ann Jones and learning of two of her siblings Mary of Cwmtwrch and Rachel who was the widow of George Morgans of Aberaman, Aberdare. If the family submitted an obituary for their mother in 1904, it seems likely that they did so far their father who died 22 April 1898. The information about the children may be useful for a search especially their daughter Ann Shelby or Selby of Adair Iowa, but also Reese D. Evans, David D Evans and Maggie Williams whose surnames are more common and their place of living more variable. Is the Tairan y Gweithwyr searchable via the internet? Thanks, Mary Gilchrist
