However, there was (and is) an extensive burial yard behind Alltwen Independent Chapel. As you say, Google's satellite and StreetView images strongly suggest that St John's is now a private residence and has been so at least since October 2008, the date of the StreetView images. Puzzlingly however, the BBC website holds an article describing a funeral at "St John's Church, Alltwen" dated September 2011: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-15031547 "About 150 mourners were inside St John's Church, Alltwen, and another 250 gathered outside as the service was relayed by loud speakers."
