    3. So this is a two part email, on one hand to offer some help and on the other to get some :-) I have had a H€!! Of a time with my Rogers clan being badly transcribed in Ancestry, they have been spelt rogus, bogus, and boogers and most recently my Rogers have been included in a transcription error of my Bevan's... Misspelled as Revans but I persevered and searched the 1911 census by an address (which I should have known but didn't-brain fart). Anyway they came up living at that address and now I know that my William Rogers was an elementary school teacher living on upper Thomas street in lower Merthyr Tydfil (I also didn't know there was a difference) so my advice is if you are having a hard time finding your lot TRY an address! Now my question is. How FAR might my William have gone in 1911's transportation to get to his elementary school to teach? And what school would reasonably been within the possible area he would need to travel? I know he was there in 1917 as he is listed as next of kin for his brother who died of war wounds from Gallipoli while in Australia. The house was still in the family well into the late 40's as I found a probate will from the youngest Bevan boy who was thirteen in 1911. Cheers Sarah Gfhs 8400

    3. Hello Sarah Your best bet is to search the electoral rolls if your searching for someone by an address. As for the question about how far William might travel, it would depend on how good the transport links of the day were. The transport of the day would have been by rail, therefore I would guess the distance would be on average about 10 miles to commute to and from work. By foot he could well walk over a mountain and back to work, with the mountain tracks being safer than the valley bottoms. Regards Gareth
