Greetings fellow searchers,I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction in looking for information about the death of a police officer based in Abertridwr near Caerphilly late 1929 or early 1930. David JONES was knocked down by a wood delivery lorry, taken to hospital (unknown) and died there as a result of pneumonia. He was the grandfather of an Australian friend. She knows little of him, his birth or birth place, or of his wife Mary Joanna JONES nee JOHN. She was born about 1884 whereabouts unknown.I have looked at the usual archives and newspaper sites but nothing is jumping out. Before I head to the Glamorgan Records Office in Cardiff to look at the South Glamorgan Police archives is there anyone who has any knowledge of deaths of serving policemen at that time?Grateful for any information, Luned James
If he was on duty when he died then you can check the Police Memorial of Honour, if he is not there then you can submit his name to be added. http://www.policememorial.org.uk/ Martin Briscoe Fort William martin@mbriscoe.me.uk -----Original Message----- From: glamorgan-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:glamorgan-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Luned James via Sent: 09 January 2015 21:18 To: GLAMORGAN@rootsweb.com Subject: [GLA] David JONES policeman Abertridwr died 1929-30 Greetings fellow searchers,I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction in looking for information about the death of a police officer based in Abertridwr near Caerphilly late 1929 or early 1930.
