Thank you Jill, good to hear from you again. It would be so useful to have Welsh Newspapers Online to go further than, what is it 1919? Still we have so much more at our fingertips now than we started eh? The Welsh Newspapers online are a great source, but sadly do not go into the 1930 - I just wish they would. I would also look at the dates of death in the newspapers when in Cardiff. There was bound to be mention of this. David JONES was knocked down by a wood delivery lorry, taken to hospital (unknown) and died there as a result of pneumonia. He was the grandfather of an Australian friend. She knows little of him, his birth or birth place, or of his wife Mary Joanna JONES nee JOHN. She was born about 1884 whereabouts unknown.I have looked at the usual archives and newspaper sites but nothing is jumping out. Before I head to the Glamorgan Records Office in Cardiff to look at the South Glamorgan Police archives is there anyone who has any knowledge of deaths of serving policemen at that time?Grateful for any information, Luned James --
Thank you Martin that was a very useful website the Police Memorial of Honour. At least we now know he couldn't have been on duty. So it's off to Cardiff for a day out :-)Cheers Luned On Friday, January 9, 2015 10:50 PM, Luned James <lunedjames@yahoo.com> wrote: Thank you Jill, good to hear from you again.
