Please find information attached about Glamorgan Family History Society Annual Fair GLAMORGAN FAMILY HISTORY SOCIETY – ANNUAL FAIR – Saturday 10 October 2015, 10.00-3.30 Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, CF48 1UT This popular annual family history event is once again taking place in the historic town of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan. FREE ENTRY, FREE PARKING, FREE TALKS Did your Ancestors live in Wales? Knowledgeable experts are available to help with all level of queries. Beginners welcome. A wide variety of stalls - exhibitors include Welsh and English family history societies, local history societies, military experts, family tree charts, ancestral tourism, genealogical services, old postcards, old maps, local and family history books, second-hand books as well as museums, libraries and local authority organisations. Talks Programme: 11.00 Dr Diane Brook: “How Far Back Can You Get?” Diane is Vice President and a founder member of Glamorgan Family History Society. She has been tracing her own and many others' ancestry since the 1970s and still fascinated by finding new family connections. 12.00 Beryl Evans: “Tracing your Welsh Ancestry” Beryl is Research Services Manager at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth and has been researching Welsh family history for thirty years. She is a member of the executive committee of the Federation of Family History Societies and the Association of Family History Societies of Wales and chairman of the Cardiganshire Family History Society. “Tracing Your Welsh Ancestors: A Guide for Family Historians” was published in 2015 by Pen & Sword Books. 2.00 Bill Cainan: “Tracing the Welsh soldier in WW1 and WW2” Bill is the former Curator of The Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh at Brecon. He has served in both the Regular and Territorial Army. His expertise covers a wide range of topics in military history.
