It can happen that the name shown on the marriage certificate is different in spelling from the signed name. I think that is another reason for the bride's name being indexed twice, with different spellings. Remember that Pontypridd Register Office will have copied out the original entry, whereas GRO would scan and print the entry on their records. What is really needed is someone to look at the register at Glamorgan Archives in Cardiff and photograph it, if you really want to know what Mary gave her name as.
