    1. [GLA] Archive movie film: Swansea to Pontardulais by steam train

    3. Dear Listers, I've just been watching a superb piece of archive film, shot in June 1964, of a steam-hauled train journey from Swansea Victoria Station to Pontardulais. The film is in colour and lasts about 12 minutes. Those of you who know the Swansea area will recognise lots of familiar sights. The soundtrack is of rather poor quality and the commentary muffled, but the visuals are priceless. The footage was shot by Swansea’s Borough Librarian, Leslie M Rees and his deputy. Mr Rees provides the commentary. The film is accessible on the British Film Institute website at: http://player.bfi.org.uk/film/watch-swansea-victoria-pontardulais-railway-1964-june-1964/ Kind regards, John -------------------- John Ball, Brecon, Mid-Wales, UK E-mail: john@jlb2011.co.uk Personal Homepage: http://www.jlb2011.co.uk Images of Wales: http://www.jlb2011.co.uk/walespic/ Welsh Family History Archive: http://www.jlb2011.co.uk/wales/ Blog: http://johnofbrecon.com Webmaster, Breconshire Local & Family History Society http://www.blfhs.co.uk/ GENUKI Breconshire Maintainer: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/BRE/ Administrator - Powys RootsWeb mailing list
