My Late Dad's regiment, the Royal Montréal, is celebrating their 100th Anniversary partly by publishing daily blogs of their actions/activities in and around WWI. The link attached will take you to one of the blogs that speaks to soldiers using aliases - something of which I was not aware. As the article states, in this one year, in one Battalion there were thirteen cases that are known of - one has to wonder how prevalent this was.
