Hello Roland As far as I'm concerned there is only one Castell Coch and Owain Glyndwr burned that one down a long time ago. Being serious for a minute, if you click on the GENUKI link you should get to WHITCHURCH with the parish and villages of Lisvane, Llanishen, Pentyrch, Tongwynlais, Taff's Well, and Walnut Tree Bridge >From Slaters Commercial Directory, 1880. Last year I found my 2nd great grandfather, GEORGE NEWMAN, aged 64, in this village on the 1891 Census. He is the innkeeper of the Castell Coch Inn, along with his (second) wife, Louiza. (He died at Cardiff two years later. Born in Devon, he is my only ancestor whom I have discovered appearing in all six censuses during his lifetime--1841 through 1891.) I understand that Castell Coch in Welsh is "Red Castle," and that there is a famous landmark of that name nearby. This enumeration is in the civil parish of Eglwysilan. I can't find the exact location in Google Earth or Yahoo Maps. I would be delighted to learn if this pub is still in existence and its exact location. Hoping to hear from fellow-researchers. This is a great list and resource. Thanks, Roland Purnell Ventura, California
