    3. I don't like most of the sites, they don't seem to "really" get what that sort of money bought on those dates. You sort of have to find things such as you could live really well on 5 and 10 pounds a year in the 18th century. IIRC back in the 18th century 400 or 500 pounds invested could support you for the rest of your life Novels of the period 1900 1920 used to say you could live well or comfortably on 100 pounds a year (but when you needed a phone then, 100 pds wasn't enough) Eliz On Sun, Jul 24, 2011 at 1:01 PM, robert williams <canton_cardiff_wales@yahoo.com> wrote: > I'm still here Baby. > I expect its because its a weekend that the list has gone quiet. > Anyway,Can anyone tell me where I can click in to that site which shows what for instance, 430 pounds in 1772 would be worth today please? > And also 200 pounds in 1825. > Cheers Graham. > From:- Graham WILLIAMS,of Canton,Cardiff. >       Glamorgan F.H.S;#551. > > -- > > To send to the list send to glamorgan@rootsweb.com > GLAMORGAN Family History Mailing List archives etc. are at > http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/WLS/GLAMORGAN.html > - > A large amount of information, and a wide variety of useful links, may be found at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/ > > - > The South/West Wales Lookup Exchange and Gareth's Help Pages > http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~walesle/wal/AW.html and > http://home.clara.net/tirbach/hicks.html > > > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GLAMORGAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
