    3. My Great grand father Rees EVANS died near Cefn works. His death cert states his death was registered at Bridgend. When & where died was 20th May 1867 before Tythegstone aged 37 informant was Howel Cuthbertson, the registrar was Richard Leyesbon. I found a report in the Bridgend Chronicle dated Friday May 24th 1867 which reads as follows:-          ''Distressing Suicide- It appears that a man named Rees EVANS , was found hung to a tree near Cefn works on Monday morning last, a little after seven'o'clock. He left his house at an early hour to go to his work at the slip near Tondu, and was not seen alive afterwords. He was 37 years of age, nd has left a wife and five children to morn his loss. No cause has been assigned for the rash act.'' I would like to find out where he may have been buried, most likely in an unmarked grave. There are some discrepancies in the newspaper report, one is the statement that he left his house, this should have read that he left his lodgings, another is that it states he had a wife and five children this should read ' a wife and two children[His wife was with child at the time of his death which would make it three , the third child was not born until Dec]. So my main aim is to confirm that this is my relation. All I really know is that my Rees EVANS disappeared between about March 1867 when his third child was conceived and Dec when he was born. I found his wife and children on the 1871 census living with a William ROGERS and her three sons John,Pryce and Arthur all of which adopted the name ROGERS. The only death that fits Rees EVANS is the one above. Regards Di
