Dear John Many thanks for the link - and the suggestion of Eglwysilan as a possible resting place - also Penyrheol cemetary which other kind listers have suggested as well. I was researching in the Nat. Lib today, and was very moved by another diary there, documenting the attempts of people trying find survivors- one described having to leave the pit because their "warning" canary died in the still poisonous air. and thanks again to Evelyn, Kay and Robert.
