Hi Dianne I think the place you are looking for may be Llangiwg http://tinyurl.com/6f6zhpn (for which the Anglicised version is Llanguicke), which is near Pontardawe and almost 30 miles by road from Merthyr Tydfil. Dianne, By Australia standards, Llanguick (Llangiwg) is near Merthyr. By welsh Valley standards, it is not particularly near. Merthyr I'm sure you have found on modern maps. Llangiwg is around the area of Pontardawe and Ystalyfera in the Swansea and Amman valleys. Google says Pontardawe to Merthy is 27.9 miles by modern roads. Plenty on Llangiwg on Gareth Hick's web site. http://www.tytwp.plus.com/Waun/Waun.html#top2 Dai On 07/06/2011 05:28, Dianne wrote: > I know my ancestors came from the Glamorgan area and it gets confusing at times can anyone tell me where abouts LLANGUICK GLAMORGAN is it near MERTHYR .My gggrandfatrher William Lewis census record for1841 says Glamorgan > 1861 census says Merthyr Glamorgan Wales > his sister Elizabeth , brother John 1851 census says LLANGUICK . > > Dianne > Aussie
