    3. Hello Josephine/List That site is for those living in Merthyr. Another site that would give information as to what is held in which library and information to other library in Wales, would be Library Wales site. From where you can search all libraries in Wales. I link from there to the National to search the pre 1900 newspapers. Gareth http://library.wales.org/

If I wanted to look at a local history book about an area not in my own locality, I'd first look in the library catalogue of that area to see if a copy was was available and whether it was for reference or loan. If I found there was a copy for reference only, I might take a trip to that library to have a look at the book, even if it was a long way away. As I have written a number of local history books, I've actually done trips like that. Once I had to travel to a Welsh library to check on *one* word in a book, which I knew was in that library. My long-suffering spouse drove me there, and when, on the way back, we saw a copy of the same book in an antiquarian book shop, for £75, he said I had to buy that copy as he wasn't going to spend hours travelling to the library again if anything else needed to be checked. > Another site that would give information as to what is held in which > library and information to other library in Wales, would be Library > Wales site. > http://library.wales.org/ Thank you for the link. I've looked there, and, as I suspected, not many libraries, besides Merthyr Tydfil, have copies of Merthyr Boat Boy: An Evidential Account. It looks like Bridgend has six copies and Cardiff has one. I am not surprised at this because it is nearly 20 years ago that the book was published by the Education Department of Mid Glamorgan County Council. I didn't even know, until today, that there are copies in libraries or that Merthyr Tydfil Public Libraries has copies for sale.
