Rev Horatio James Thomas, an evangelical churchman, was the vicar of Pentyrch from 1834 to 1880 and perpetual curate of Llantwit Fardre or over 50 years. Apparently he conducted all his services in Welsh. There was, however, a very strong Nonconformist population in both parishes. Ty'nywaun Row was demolished in 1955 and is in the area where the current shops in Pentyrch are. Image sent to Rosamond off list.
