Your master HORNER was a pupil under Thistleboon's most well-known and successful headmaster, J.R.D.COLSTON. There are also some HORNER entries, but whether any of them are yours I don't know. I suspect that the marriage of Robert Thomas HORNER to Ann CROCKER, in June quarter 1855 in Swansea registration district, may be of interest to you, as there is a Cambrian entry about the death of Mrs Ann HORNER, daughter of a Swansea man called CROCKER. In 1861 Robert T HORNER was a Law Stationer ( born London) in Swansea with three sons aged 5,3, and 2, the latter two born at Coleford in the Forest of Dean. By 1871 Ann HORNER was a Lawyers Clerks Widow (sic) and had 5 sons aged 14 down to 8, the younger two born respectively in Swansea and in Bermondsey, London The address was in an affluent area suggesting that private schooling for some or all of the boys may have been an option. The only death of a Robert T HORNER in the intervening period in England and Wales was in 1866 in Cheltenham district. This appears to be the only HORNER family in Swansea at the time, and they seem to have moved about, returning to Swansea at intervals. If anyone else has information on this family, please make sure that you send both to the list and to R.E.Evans, e mail: raytherep@hotmail.com I suspect that this family may make interesting researching.
