>From previous correspondence with Karen I know that she is interested in a family at a location called Reed Fach in the parish of St Paul, Sketty, Swansea. The description of the enumeration district this entry appears in is "Part of the Lower Division of the parish of Swansea commencing at Verandah Lodge down the Tyr Issa Stream to Singleton, thence along High Water Mark to Black Pill, up the Clyne River to Killay Bridge, along the Turnpike Road back to Verandah Lodge, including the South part of Cross Inn Village, Singleton Abbey House and lands, Werneinon, Sketty Hall, Hendderwen and the houses at Sketty Green and all other lands within the said boundaries." (From Glamorgan Family History Society 1861 Census CD) >From the mapped locations of several other properties shown on adjoining census pages, it is clear that the location the family she is interested in were at must have been in the corner of St Paul's, Sketty parish near where the Clyne river enters the sea at Blackpill. I have given Karen a detailed answer off-list which I will copy to anyone who is intetested. I will copy in some of the interesting bits: See http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Swansea/Sketty/StPaul/ http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Swansea/ shows that the parish was created from part of the parish of St Mary, Swansea after 1832. The Church was built about 1850 and the parish registers start from 1850. This extract from the 'Cambrian Index' shows that the parish was created in 1851 28 February 1851 ST.PAULS CHURCH SKETTY:EXTRACT FROM LONDON GAZETTE RE. PARISH BOUNDARIES.
