Hello Firstly Llaniddall, I presume is in the Pontypool registration district and you haven't decipered the place name correctly. A Jane Williams married a Taliesin Bevan in the Pontypool registration district, in the last quarter of 1866, (possibly Llanhilleth). (http://www.freebmd.org.uk/). Which is on another board dealing with Monmouthshire. Perhaps you could add some more information, no matter how small, such as When did Jane emigrate with Taliesin etc? In The 1851 Wales Census, At tram Road Sides, Merthyr, there is a Williams family that may fit your description. David 31 1820 Lanvairbryn, Carmarthenshire Mary 32 1819 Langadog, Carmarthenshire Ann 8 1843 Langadog, Carmarthenshire Jane 3 1848 Merthyr Regards Gareth

My late maternal grandmother's parents were William THOMAS and Miriam JONES. William was born in about 1882 to John and Elizabeth Ann (formerly EDWARDS), and Miriam in about 1888 to Daniel and Margaret (formerly THOMAS). They married in 1912 in Neath, and I have them in all censuses 1891-1911 as below: William 1891 - Piece 4463 Folio 103 Page 9 1901 - Piece 5055 Folio 99 Page 23 1911 - RG14 Piece 32639 Schedule 178 (listed as boarder, mother remarried having been widowed prior to 1901) Miriam 1891 - Piece 4466 Folio 74 Page 5 1901 - Piece 5062 Folio 86 Page 9 (father widowed) 1911 - RG14 Piece 32673 I have traced possible marriages for both sets of parents but given the common surnames I am reluctant to order them without being certain they are the right ones. Hoping someone can help Katie NE Wales
Hi, I am from the US and looking for anyone who has the name JANE WILLIAMS born on July 31, 1848 in Merthyr, Tydfil, Wales. She married a Taliesen Bevan in Llaniddall on Dec 22, 1866. She was the daughter of David Williams and Mary Davis. She also had a sister Ann. I have all the information on her after immigrating to the US. but have hit a brick wall on her parents. I believe her sister immigrated to Pa. also. Mary Davis and David Williams were marriede in the Carmel Chapel in Merthyr Tydfil on Jan 28, 1843. I have a copy of the marriage certificate from the GRO. Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.
Blimey Jill,It would take me, and probably many others on here all day,[week, month, or year?]To write out All the surnames we are interested in, and may be link to others? I recently contacted a fellow researcher on the Surname of FRANKLIN where he had done a One-Name-Study on.He sent me a Family Tree with approximately 3,075 cousins on it,all descended from Jenkin FRANKLINwho I previously mentioned recently, on this list. Suffice to say, He had only gone back to 1550 on his lot. I gave him the link back to 1400, and to William FRANKLIN, who had lands off Thomas FRANKLIN,the Abbot of Neath& Margam.Who was my Ancestor too. Cheers Graham.Graham Williams, Glam;FHS# 551. of Canton,Cardiff.

Hello all.As the List seems to be quiet, perhaps one of you helpful folks out there, who may have a subscriptionto those awfully nice people from "Ancestory. com" Could assist me please? Looking at the aforementioned Ancestory.com website for Free in my Local library recently,I came upon another link to another President of the United States. My Earlier find was via Franklin Pierce the 19th;century President who is my 8th;cousin 7 times removedupwards. Both of us are descended from Jenkin FRANKLIN,[c.1515-1585] of Parc-le-breos,Ilston,Gower.He being my 13 x great, grandfather. Jenkin was the "Under Sheriff"of Glamorgan in 1541,and later a J.P;[1581] The FRANKLIN's were in The Municipal Government of Swansea from 1485 to 1640.[From Glamorgan Historian vol;1.] On the Ancestory.com information, somebody had written a link to William Howard TAFT,[1857-1930]The Lord Chief Justice, and President of the United States, the 9 x great, grandson of the aboveJenkin FRANKLIN. There was mention to a CALHOUN family tree who had this link, and maybe a WARD/FLANAGAN Family Treealso had a link. I would like to know the step by step from W.H.TAFT back through to Jenkin FRANKLIN to add to my family treePlease. The reference letters at the bottom of the sheet I printed out was thus..... http://trees.ancestorylibrary.com/pt/personMatch.aspx?tid=41119649&pid=20472736608&src=m&pg=32772&pgpl=pid Blimey,What a mouthful, 'eh? Sorry, not contributing at the moment - busy transcribing for MonGenes and I've been helping someone knock down a brick wall - you know what I mean ;-) I'm assuming a lot of the others are doing similar. Still searching for any HATTON connection in Glamorgan (I have a lot of them - came originally from Gloucestershire then Monmouthshire then Glamorgan from late 1700's onwards) and an elusive Frederick BRAN(D)T (in Devon, but I think he's dead and buried in Malta - around the year 1820/30) All the best Jane > To: glamorgan@rootsweb.com > Date: Sat, 2 May 2015 17:28:34 +0100 > Subject: [GLA] List Activity > From: glamorgan@rootsweb.com > > List Members All, > We don't keep a Activity list online, as some more organised List owners do;-)) I can tell you though that we have a large list of 655 subscribed members. Hi Eliz.As Jill has said, give us some information on what you want looked up,and some of us may be able to help? Ive got the Cadoxton-Juxta-Neath Parish registers, and some of the early ones fromMerthyr Tydfil. I am not available for Multi lookups of surnames,as I have the old fashioned type ofMachine. That is to say,A "Microfiche Reader".And have to write it down twice.Pen first, then copy that to Computer. I think you are the one who found my Edward "of Blaen" marrying Margaret Hopkin so I am very grateful for that. I have worked on the kids as best I could so it is time maybe to find Susannah Lloyd's information. I can't how ever make a close guess at her date of birth there i a 7 year span 1803 to 1810, the internment record seems to be 12 May 1863 Susannah JAMES 53 Glams Merthyr Tydfil, St Tydfil She seems to have married Edward James around 1829 judging only by the childrens births. If you have something in those years I would be grateful, if not I am still grateful for the offer. Eliz Not Today and Not without a Fight (Anon) For all that has been, thanks. Listers, As Robert has said there are few emails lately, but if you wrote something, as I did recently you will get plenty of quiet people sitting in the background, also wondering where the list mail is, suddenly helping you. I have already replied to Heather 'off list', in more or less the same vein. What surnames are you researching? Why don't you let the list know as someone else may well have something to add to your research, but cannot do this, if they don't know who you may be looking for. You can always check email if you feel that it is simply you not getting these by going to the Glamorgan List Archives. The list has helped me - a lot! with my James family from Merthyr Tydfil (and Cadoxton justa Neath and "of Blaen") The family of Susanna Lloyd b 1803-10ish is unknown although she she gave Merthyr Tydfil as her place of birth. Their son Thomas E. Was born 1830 and died in Chicago Illinois in 1894 (of TB as did his son and daughter). He married Mary Thomas in 1849 had son William in 1850 and emigrated around 1854. I am fairly sure that they lived with Mary's father, John Thomas, in 1851, but I've little idea about her mother who might have been Mary Davis. So if anyone has some spare time <G> and local records any help would be appreciated! Eliz who died before 1851 Not Today and Not without a Fight (Anon) For all that has been, thanks. Dear Listers My parents bought a house in Cardiff Road, Mountain Ash, from my mothers aunt in 1954. I was wondering if there is any way of finding out when the house was built as I had the impression the family had lived there for a 'long' time. I know in 1901 the Charles family lived at Cynon House, Nos 28,29 and 30 Oxford Street, Mountain Ash and then by 1911 they are at Bryn Haf Villas, Llan Road, Mountain Ash. There is something niggling at the back of my mind as to whether this address is the same place as where I was born; Clydfan,(6?)Cardiff Road, Mountain Ash. On google maps the terrace of houses are known as Cresselly Villas. Our house was on the corner of Cardiff Road and Troed-yr-Rhiw Road. Does anyone know this area, or have any idea how I can find out when these houses were built?
