Hi Mary Beth Take a look at http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Death/WhatToDoAfterADeath/DG_066713 -- Cheers Peter Neath
I can't help you with the newspaper report, Mary Beth, but if he was taken to the hospital as a result of an accident, or foul play, and then died at the hospital, there would certainly be an inquest. There was an inquest for one in my tree who died in hospital after a bicycle ran into him. Hi All Been away from this list for a long long time so I will take it slowly. Some of you may remember me and know that I am actually barking mad :-) I often get updates of interest from my mentor the infamous Dr Tom Roderick. Some recent posts have interested me mainly concerning genetics. At first it was thought that I would be related to Dr Tom as there are not too many people with the surname Roderick. Genetics soon ruled that one out. Despite having a paper trail that leads back to the very Welsh name RHYDDERCH in Swansea to near enough the mid 1700's I do not fit the mainly European genetic code 1rb etc.or whatever it is My haplogroup is G which is of Indian origin. To be exact - G2a3b1a2i This subgroup is nearly all British and unusually Welsh but also has strong Swiss connections. Anyway now I have got that off my chest still looking for anyone who think they may descend from Ralph Thomas RODERICK, Stan Thomas RODERICK, Ralph Brookes RODERICK ,William RODERICK, or Israel RODERICK/RHYDDERCH. All of them got about a bit, the first two especially as they shipped in and out of many ports worldwide. As my grandmother used to say you just never know what got into the woodpile. Regards Phil Roderick aka Phil the Cardiff Mongrel or just Phil TCM .

Hello List, Would someone be able to do me a tremendous favor if they are going to the library sometime in the near future? I have a Daniel Morgan Thomas [his first name could be David; there's a bit of confusion about that] who died on 27 March 1970 at Morriston Hospital. There was an inquest held on the 1st & 9th of April 1970. I am curious as to why there was an inquest when he died in the hospital and thought there may be something in the newspapers about it. If there is a death notice a transcription of it would also be greatly appreciated as I am not sure if I have the right person. The death certificate gives me no personal information to be sure he is the Daniel (David) Morgan Thomas I need. Regards, Mary Beth Adams West Virginia, US
I was about to get DNA tested to see where I came from. LOL. >From what I'm reading here, I'll just find out that I'm a Briton-right? I am almost 100% of Irish descent and was hoping to get more info about the area from which My family originated. So, this is a waste of money??? Nancy
I think this topic has had a good airing and has wandered a little, and can be brought to a close. No further message on this subject to the list, please. Jeff list admin (certainly with English, Welsh and Scots ancestors, and probably Irish as well)
Love your tag line! Mine would read something like that maybe descendant of 2, maybe 3, Prisoners at Preston Scotland transported to Virginia 1715 descendant of Welsh puddlers (1) and blacksmiths (2) and fiddlers and musicians (all of the preceding) Mayflower descendant Descendant of Irish famine immigrants. Just call me UK American <G> It isn't a melting pot, no matter how many times they say it, it is a stew <G> well cooked with none of the veggies mush. Hi MEJ I've gone in for dna testing - I've only been told that my ancestry is "Northern European" - not even "Briton" or "Germanic Invader" or "Viking"! At least it'll stop people writing that their forebears came from Whales!! It would be a mistake to do this for haplogrouping (not haplotyping), because many clades are finding more specific locations as more SNPs are identified and utilized. That is what it is all about. Hi Gerwyn I used Google and found this question has been asked before and here is the reply Sometimes 7 ber, 8 ber, 9 ber and 10 ber were used for September, October, November and December. This was based on the Latin words for 7 (septem), 8 (octo), 9 (novem) & 10 (decem). Hello "Listers", I wish to thank on behalf of Mary Sheperdson here in Western Australia for all the help and research on her maternal ancesters, the VERNON family. You have filled in a lot of gaps in her family history in only a few days Mary has been working with-out much success for months. What a wonderful service the rootsweb members give. " It's always a feel-good feeling to help a fellow person with their Family History"! Thank you all. Rhonda Bartlett
Yes, I agree, I have just got back from Carmarthen Archives where a death of an ancestor was 8ber the archvisit told me it was October. Regards Bryan
Dear Lyn, Charani and Dave. Thank you all for your prompt replies I am transcribing the transcripts into excel format for use at the Crickhowell Archive Centre. Gerwyn
Hi List. I have been reading an early transcript of Crickhowell PR from 1700- 1750 where the month is written like 9 ber does this indicate its September or December. Gerwyn
Hello, My thanks to Evelyn for her reply. Roy
Hi Gavin. The Chapel has been turned into a B&B but a condition of the sale was that the burial ground had to be maintained and be open, the chapel is next to Pontrhydyfen RFC, You will be able to park your car there and it's a short walk to the Chapel. Be warned the burial ground is steep. Its assumed that the registers are lost but cant be proven one way or another. If using Google maps zoom in to the Post Office in Pontrhydyfen, the chapel would have been across the road and to the right you will then see the burial ground. Their funerals were in Aberdare, but the coffins were taken by rail to Port Talbot and then by road to Pontrhydyfen. Their names are Margaret Morgan died 1914 and John Afanydd Morgan died 1936 whose obituary specifically mentions Jerusalem Chapel burial ground for the interrment. My query is are there any burial records held for Jerusalem chapel? Or am I to find the burial ground and do a personal search? their reply was short and sweet Unfortunately we do not hold any burial registers for Jerusalem Calvinistic Chapel, Pontrhydyfen. We only hold some marriage registers for the years, 1965-1991 (D/D CM 9) Does anyone know where these records are? or are they lost? what is the state of the graveyard, is it maintained, and is it open? any help will be gratefully received thank you/diolch yn fawr Gavin Williams -- To send to the list send to glamorgan@rootsweb.com GLAMORGAN Family History Mailing List archives etc. are at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/WLS/GLAMORGAN.html - A large amount of information, and a wide variety of useful links, may be found at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/ - The South/West Wales Lookup Exchange and Gareth's Help Pages http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~walesle/wal/AW.html and http://home.clara.net/tirbach/hicks.html ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to GLAMORGAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
