    3. Thank you so much to the people who have responded to my appeal for help. I would like to ask two more questions. My Lawler family were Irish and Roman Catholic. Is there any way that I would be able to find a christening for a child born around 1849 in Ardare? Hugh Lawler's wedding certificate gives his place of birth as (looks like) 'Penrith', Wales. I suspect that this is the English version of a Welsh name. Any ideas where that could be? Thanks again Clare in Australia

    3. Clare, Penarth would seem to be the nearest to 'Penrith' in Glamorgan. You may find other possibilities on the Genuki Glamorgan page: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/GLA/Parishes.html Dai On 01/07/2011 13:12, Clare Dubay wrote: > Thank you so much to the people who have responded to my appeal for help. FreeBMD has a birth for a Hopkin Hopkin in Neath in the June qtr of 1884 and a corresponding death in the December qtr of 1887, again in Neath. I wonder if this ties up with the location of the headstone? -- Cheers Peter

    3. Thanks both, I didn't make myself that clear I'm afraid. How do I pinpoint that addss. in the census? It's a very common name and it states on the ship manifest he's going to his brother at that addss. (1906) I'd like to see if any Ryan's are still there in 1910. A nightmare of a name really. Many thanks.

    1. Re: [GLA] Florinda BEAVAN's will
    2. Lyn
    3. Thanks Elizabeth for passing this on. Thanks Althea for your help. Florinda was the cousin of Frederick the surgeon b 1807 in Llansamlet. His father was also Frederick a surgeon and this Frederick was the brother of Henry. The family had moved to Northumberland about 1809. Edith was the daughter of Frederick the surgeon b 1807. She was baptised Edith Florinda - The Gage name came from Florinda's mothers side so I am not sure why Edith adopted it but that is her death registration you have found. The only occupation I have for this Henry Williams Beavan is Gentleman. He features in the Cambrian a few times in the early 1800s selling property etc. There is a little bit of intrigue in that I have another Henry Williams Beavan that was the same age. I have located him in the census and he used the family traditional forenames of Williams, Cadwalleder and Llewellyn in his children's names. He died in September 1851 and was a Commission Agent/ Captain in the 18th Royal Regiment of Ireland. His children were born between 1819 and 1837 and his wife was Susannah Caroline Ashton whom he married in 1818. He lived in London and Middlesex and in 1841 was at St Pancras. Some of the other Frederick's family lived in Chelsea. I often wonder if they are one and the same and that is why I'd like to find them in the census - perhaps Henry left Mildred but her death certificate does say wife of Henry but then he was not the informant so was he even there? They only had one child in 1805, one wonders why. The London Henry was in the army, Royal Regiment of Ireland - Mildred was born in Dublin and that is where she was married. However, if Henry was in London with his other family where was Mildred in 1841 or 1851?
