Hi, This is the site to search for Welsh Mormon immigrants to the USA. http://welshmormonhistory.org/ Pamela Marsden
Hello Heather, I have been unable to find them at all, and only likely one I found [with an adopted daughter] is the one in Morriston. I don't suppose that they went abroad did they? There was a large contingent of Merthyr people who became Mormons and went to America. Could it be that they went but returned later? I think I would go back to your source and ask if they have more details, as something doesn't seem quite right here with the information that you want. Often when you ask people, later they recall something that they hadn't told you, which may make the difference to your research. Odd you cannot find her Birth. Was Dinah her real name? I know she used it at marriage, but lots of people were christened one name and later used another. Just my thoughts on this. I have really hunted for them, in Wales and the UK. Why have you disregarded the couple in Morriston BTW? On closer examination of this problem, it appears that for some bizarre reason Ancestry has taken about 34 consecutive entries for deaths in the June quarter of 1856 , from William McHattie to Alfred McKardy, and added them to the deaths in the December quarter of 1914, where their format without an age at death (always shown in 1914) makes them stand out. These entries are all in the correct place in the FreeBMD database. I have put a warning on the McJennett entry on Ancestry. If anyone has a hotline to Ancestry to persuade them to put their database right, by all means pass on this information. Having looked at the FreeBMD image ANC-02/H-O/1914D4-M-0198.jpg for Dec qr 1914 for the McJ names ( it covers McIver to McLean) there is no entry for this name. Deaths on 11a 154 in December quarter 1914 are in Bedwellty district. Hello Robert! I can see your problem - no age of death recorded on entry - and no mention f a James C Mcjennett (under any spelling) on any census for Glamorgan rea. Though a death (which I'm sure you're well aware of) for a James arey McJennett in 1856 June quarter. Have you thought of phoning the National Bereavement Services at Thornhill? hey are very, very helpful and if the James Carey McJennett who died in 914 is buried in Cardiff district they will be able to tell you where he is nterred/Cremated and probably what age he was - also they usually tell you ver the phone if there is anyone else interred with him. Perhaps he was a ewborn who wasn't formally registered? There may even be a headstone which ould be the icing on the cake! I believe their number is 029 2062 3294. Good Luck! Julie
