Thank you to Jeff and Susan for your responses to my question about Rebecca. I think the death information is correct for the person I'm looking for. I just don't think the information listed on the marriage information for William Ford would list him as a widower if he had been divorced from Rebecca. To all of you who had a hand in the digitizing of records from Glamorgan, THANK YOU!!! JoLynn Barneck
I'm helping a relative make a start on her family history and as they lived in the Pendoylan area for most of their married lives, I would like to confirm which registration districts this fell into at the various times for the births of their children. I have found some recorded in PONTYPRIDD from 1911, others in BRIDGEND, and the last one in CARDIFF 1929. As far as I know they were all home births. I see that Pontypridd lost Llantrisant to Bridgend in 1931 and have checked the site for Bridgend, where there were many changes, but I see no mention of Pendoylan. Thanks for any help, Wendy
Hi, Just wondering, I'm looking to buy a booklet Monumental Inscriptions for St Thomas, Neath but it doesn't specify dates. Does anyone know what dates these cover? Are they reasonably up to date, e.g., do they cover 1901+. Thanks Helen

Does anyone have parish registers for St. Iltyd's? I believe that there are two parishes with the same or similar names - I mean the one that my ancestors who lived in Pennydarren and Dowlais would have gone to. What I want are names of witnesses and sponsors which may not be in parish registers anyway. Sue

This shows a 1900 map centred on Marian Street. One click on the map provides a scrollable enlarged map on which Marian Street is clearly identified. The earlier 1:2,500-scale (1876) and 1:10,560-scale (1885) maps were surveyed before Marian Street was built. A Rebecca FORD, residence Bridgend, no age given, was buried at Cowbridge on 20th November 1836. It may be that it is impossible to be sure whether this was the same person. Evidence of any other Rebecca Ford around at the time might be useful. I am not aware of any, after some simple searches. Divorce was extremely expensive and only undertaken by the wealthier classes at that date. A William Dallen FORD, son of William Dallen FORD, an Ostler, and Rebecca, was baptised 20th June 1830 at St John's, Cardiff Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff & Jolynn Barneck" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, August 07, 2013 12:07 AM Subject: [GLA] Rebecca (COTTLE/CATTLE) FORD > I'm trying to find out two things about Rebecca COTTLE or CATTLE. Hello, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking for information on my maternal Grandfathers family. His name was Harry STIDDER he was born in Glamorganshire Wales, immigrated alone to New Zealand in 1929 and died here in 1990. The information I have is from my mother and is quite sparce. I have been told that his birth was never registered in an oversight by the midwife who had 5 deliveries on the night. His Mother was born ELLEN JONES and married a HARRY JOHN STIDDER who was killed in WW1 in 1916 Ellen used to sing in the Music Halls in Cardiff post WW1 and remarried and EDWARD MORRISEY in 1937 (I have found the marriage record for this marriage). My Grandfather lists her as his next of kin on his NZ WW2 enlistment documents as Ellen Stidder of 66 Cowbridge Road, Glamorganshire, Wales and I have the address of 2 Redlavar Street, Cardiff as being her final residence until her death which was sometime around 1960. My Grandfather also correponded with an uncle in Wales EDWARD STIDDER who was still living when Ellen passed away but contact was then lost. There has also been mention of relations in England by the family name of GRIFFITH. I have searched through Ancestary UK the cencus and free BDM and public member records and apart from the marraige to Morrisey in 1937 cannot find matches for the Stidder men or Morrisey and there are so many Ellen Jones that without some proper dates it is a pointless search. Any recommendations on the best way forward would be greatly appreciated Sonya Raw
I'm trying to find out two things about Rebecca COTTLE or CATTLE. She was married to William Dallen (Dalling) FORD on 26 July 1829 in Cardiff. She possibly had two children, Elizabeth and William (born before June 1830), before something happened to cause the end of this marriage. William Dallen FORD (listed as DALLENFORD) is listed as a widower when he marrys Anne JENKINS on 1 October 1837. One family record I have looked at indicates the first marriage ended in divorce; I think it ended because Rebecca died. Could someone verify this marriage ended in divorce or that it was because she died? I'd really appreciate the help. Thank you. JoLynn Barneck
