Seriously, though, Martin, if you were to give us some information, such as the name of you grandfather and any other immediate family members, then members of this list could help you work out who this person was. We don't even know that she lived in the Monmouthshire area herself, but with knowledge of your grandfather's name we could help work out who his siblings were, from the census, and then establish who G Dart was from the BMD. Robert -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of [email protected] When my grandfather died in 1937 the informant on his Death Certificate what's his Sister in Law, G. Dart of 79 Gaer Park Drive, Newport. Does anybody know anything about this lady? The point I was making was that the lady in question described herself as my Grandfather's Sister in Law not that she was! If it helps my Grandfather was Frederick William Salmon Wright born in Northampton in 1879, move to Cardiff in 1909 to take up a position at Whitchurch Mental Hospital. As far as I can make out there is no evidence whatsoever of him having a relation of that name but I might be wrong. 3. Martin, I cannot open the sites to look at the photos...my Dad would have worked at one of these mines after he got married in 1990 and he and Mum lived at No.4 Lancaster Villas? Six Bells, Abertillery., until they came to Australia in 1922 after my eldest brother Tommy was born. I have seen the photo of the house they lived in but sadly lost this when my computer crashed 3 years ago. If anyone on this list has Photos of these little houses, all connectedtogether, I would love a photo which will be saved to a disc this time! Other than that , can someone show me how to open the photos of the mine/s? 1. [GLA] Annie Jones
    2. David Railton
    3. Annie Jones is shown in the records as entering the USA in 1907. The records show that she was, at that time, single, a dressmaker, aged 36, five foot 2 inches tall with fair complexion, black hair and brown eyes. She had been born at Alltwen near Swansea but her home for almost 5 years had been with her brother, David J Jones, at 4138, Delevan Street, Pittsburgh. She seems to have been returning to Pennsylvania after a visit back home to South Wales. I have found an Annie Jones and a David J Jones in the 1881 census for Cilypebill, Pontardawe, Glamorgan. It shows the family of David and Gwen Jones living at Gwyn Street. Alltwen. The family includes an Annie age 12 and a David J age 8. This is certainly the right age for Annie and could well be for David. Does anyone know of Annie and David? David Railton

    3. I was very interested in Sally's comments about miners' rights, as my grandfather David MORGAN (1865-1927) from Brecon worked all his life as a miner in the New Tredegar/Elliotts Town area. I have no idea which mine, but the family story was that he had an accident and 'broke his back'. Not certain when but they referred to somewhere between 1914 and 1927. I have seen a photo of him in a wheel chair, but I don't know if the description of his condition was accurate. Anyhow, the accident happened on a Tuesday and therefore he was only paid until Tuesday. 3. Hello Dianne, I did make some enquiries for you of a cousin whose sister was married to a Gould, now both deceased, but we realized in chatting that this was not the same family, although the family was of the area. I wonder if you could send this message to the Glamorgan FHS Facebook page? It may help. My best wishes, Jill Glamorgan Mailing List's website http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~glamorgan/ -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Me Thomas Sent: 25 September 2013 15:32 To: [email protected] Subject: [GLA] Gould family bible I hope it's OK to post this. I have a Welsh bible belonging to the Gould family of Tonypandy. It's original owner was William Lewis Gould of Pentyrch, born 1869. He married Lizzie Hannah, born in Merthyr in 1872. I have a feeling the family has died out, but I know they lived in Tonypandy in Glen View Street, where my great aunt's husband (their son) was born in 1906. Other children were William George, Lizzie Mary, Blodwen, Margaret Louisa. I have advertised in various places before but never been able to find a family member. I am shortly to move house and will have less space, so things have to go. Does anyone have any knowledge of this family, please, or any suggestions as to an organisation that would like the bible? It is not in good condition and has not monetary value, I'm sure. Any info very gratefully received. Many thanks. Dianne --
