Dear Givens Researchers: I hope this finds you all well. Has anyone any information concerning Peter Harrison Givens of Jefferson Co. Tennessee and his ancestors? I have been told that he shows up in the 1850 census as a son of J. A. and Martha Givens. I am desperately searching for information on this line. Peter was my g-great Grandfather. Here is some more info: Peter Harrison Givens was born in 1832 in Jefferson County, Tennessee. He was a private in Co. H, Carter's Tennessee Cavalry, CSA. He was killed in Nashville, Tennessee, April 12, 1864. He married Martha Ann Brizendine on February 3, 1850 in Dandridge, Tennessee. She was born the daughter of Thomas and Martha Davis on June 16, 1827 in Dandridge, Tennessee. She died February 9, 1906. The children of Peter Harrison Givens and Martha Ann Brizendine were: William A., John Wesley, Dorcus J., and Charlie Hugh. John Wesley was born June 21, 1854 and died December 13, 1918. He married twice. First to Carrie Hattie Burnett on October 9, 1883. They had three children: Earl, Osmond Boyn "OB" and Burnett Cawood "BC". His second wife was Nannie Hitch. They were married on November 16, 1898 and moved to South Carolina having two children. Their son was John Wesley Givens Jr. and his son is Thomas Eugene Givens. Please help if you can.
