Nov. 1844 He was a Methodist Minister, stationed at Walker's Mission , Tuscaloosa, Co., Ala. probably died there. m. 6-1-1802 Betsy (Elizabeth) Cartwright, in Morgan Co., Ga. In 1814 he was a member of the Tennessee Conference and lived in Warren Co., Tenn. He had several children, names of all not known. the following are known: Peter Cartwright,Thomas Griffin, Wesley, Archibald; Thomas Griffin and Wesley were Methodist Ministers. Thomas Griffin died in Limestone Co., Texas. (Archibald went to Arkansas) ELIZABETH b. 4-13-1779.. No record, probably Cumberland Co.,N.C. d. 1812.. Family records state she died in 1812 in Jasper Co., Ga. It is believe she married Bartley Pierce . records in Greene Co.,Ga. show m of Elizabeth Gilmore and Bartley Pierce m. 2-3-1802. It has been established that the Pierce and Gilmore Families were friends WILLIAM. b. 1-7-1781 His 1850 census records show he was born in Va. 1860 census records show N.C. It is believed Va. is correct for the records of He Henry Co., Va. Show Humphry living there in 1781, gathering supplies for the Rev. War. No date of death was established at the time I received this record.he was not listed in the 1870 census of Butts Co., Ga. where he lived for many years. m. Catherine Bentley in Morgan Co., Ga. in 1809 .Catherine d. before 1840 census. 1850 census shows wife named Mary, son Cornelius, age 5.. (Monroe Co. 2-18-1844 a William m Mary McEwin can't read writing) William's children: census records of 18320 he had 3 sons and one dgtr. !840 census shows 4 sons. below is a list believed to be his children, only two when I received this document. Had . a brother named Clarence Gilmore a long time railroad commissioner of Texas. SAMUEL: b 8-30-1783 do not know where, either Cumberland Co. N.C. or Wilkes Co., Ga. d. it is believed he died in Jasper Co., Ga after 1836. m. Marriage records of Lincoln Co., Ga. 1806-1818 show marriage of Samuel To Nancy Hardy, exact date of m not given.
