    1. Suggestion to Cluttering up the List!!

    3. >Let's use the List properly!! >Please don't respond to the whole list when you are replying to a person from >the list. The rest of us who have read the initial posting and have deleted >it because it doesn't apply to us don't want to have 6 more messages on our e- >mail list. I say "us" because I don't think I am the only one who thinks this >way. > >Take the time to address your reply to the person who sent it -- NOT THE WHOLE >LIST. > >thank you. > >______________________________ Dear list users and list owner, I belong to many lists. There was a time when I got "fed up" with all the tons of list mail dumped onto my computer that did not apply to me. However, I understand the value of people responding to the list because, as someone said, "how else are we to get otherwise important information if there are only questions on the list?" I came to a solution that has solved my problem and kept me from complaining like Snorfok@aol.com has. I know that Snorfok@aol.com has "reached the end of his/her rope" and is acting purely out of frustration, not meanness. So, rather than start a war by "yelling" insults back, I would like to offer this suggestion to Snorfok@aol.com and anyone else that has this problem. It is very simple. Step 1: unsubscribe to the list GILMORE-L-request@rootsweb.com by typing UNSUBSCRIBE in the BODY of the message. Step 2: re-subscribe to GILMORE-D-request@rootsweb.com by typing SUBSCRIBE in the BODY of the message. This will discontinue every individual list message from downloading onto your computer and then will start sending the list to you as a DIGEST. A digest bundles all of the list messages in to one neat little downloaded package which you can easily sort through. So instead of twenty individual message downloads, you get one list DIGEST download. This has made my life so much easier (email wise). I have done this to all of my lists that I subscribe to, so now I get 10 DIGESTS instead of 100+ list messages. I hope this ends the war before it starts and helps everyone about to "spin into a tizzy" over too much irrelevant email (and even for those who aren't).
