    1. Gilmore--VA,KY,IN,IA,OR,WA
    2. Looking for futher information on the line of James L. Gilmore. James was born in VA but seems to have been raised in Boone Co KY. He married Sarah Williams in abt 1815. By 1825 he is in Rush Co IN. Then goes to Des Moines Co IA by 1836. He dies in Iowa about 1865. James appears to be the son of a Robert Gilmore. Robert maybe being the son of a Joseph Gilmore. James has sons he names Robert, Milton, Beverly Ward and Jospeh. He has several daughters as well. One married a Clymer. Robert Gilmore, son of James L. becomes a doctor. He lives most of his life in Des Moines Co. Beverly Ward goes on to Oregon and Washingtion. I lose both Joseph and Milton. The daughter who married the Clymer lived in Henry Co. I would love to hear from anyone connected to this line of Gilmores who might be able to shed more light on them. Mainly to confirm who the parents of James were.

My Gilmer's lived in Allegheny Co, Pa, but a collateral line, Castor started near Philadelphia, Pa went to Rockbridge Co, Va and then to Allegheny and Washington Co, Pa. If you find any more on this Gilmore line and their travels please let me know. Wanda

    3. Phil: We have communicated before, but you probably forgot about getting back to me. I had (1) a HUGH KELSO (possibly Kelsey) GILMORE (C. 1770-1786) in Washington County, New York and Ontario, Canada; (2) a GEORGE GILMORE (1805-1885) in Washington County, New York, Davenport, Iowa and Fairfield, Minnesota; and (3) a HENRY GILMORE (1824-1903) in the latter three places--all of whom I am trying to find out more about. If you have any connections, please inform. Thanks. 1. Indiana and Iowa Gilmores!
    2. Rebecca Kruse
    3. Hi folks! With all these Iowa Gilmores you've got my attention. My Gilmore is James S. b. 25 Dec 1838 at Laurel, Franklin Co. IN. He arrived in Brooklyn, Poweshiek Co. Iowa about 1860 and married Meribah Bross. They farmed near Brooklyn and had nine children --surviving sons were Frank, Fred and Charles Gilmore. I'd like to learn all I can -- especially about his Indiana roots. A census reported that James S. Gilmore's father was born in Virginia and his mother in NC. It is possible his father's name was Robert Gilmore. His obit said his mother died when he was about four years old.
